What exactly ARE Wilde Chicken Chips?

Plain and simple, Wilde Chicken Chips are a delicious, healthier replacement for potato chips – and made from just three simple ingredients: humanely raised chicken, gluten-free tapioca flour and healthy coconut oil!

Once we create a perfectly crispy chip, it gets the tried-and-true flavor treatment, using only the best in seasonings. Simply pick your favorite from the list (sea salt and vinegar, barbeque, jalapeño, and buffalo) and crunch away!

How do Wilde Chicken Chips differ from other chicken chips?

In this case, there ARE no other chicken chips! Wilde is the first to market for this new food category. Won't you try it and find out for yourself how tasty healthy can be?

Are Wilde Chicken Chips gluten free?

Every crunchy bite! Tapioca flour is made from the pulp from the cassava root, also known as manioc or yucca. The white powder made from the pulp is frequently used in gluten-free cooking as a thickener for sauces and as a source of crunch in baking and frying. Together, our three gluten-free ingredients – chicken, tapioca flour and coconut oil – work together to create a satisfying crunch in every bite.

To be sure you feel comfortable with Wilde Chicken Chips, our products are Gluten Free Certified through Gluten Intolerance Group and Gluten-Free Certification Organization. To learn more about their certification process, check out www.gfco.org

I’m Paleo. Are Wilde Chicken Chips good for my diet?

Every bag of Wilde Chicken Chips is Certified Paleo, an accreditation issued by the well-respected Paleo Foundation. They analyzed every ingredient in our Chicken Chips and confirmed that each is paleo compliant and that we met each of the program requirements. They’re the real Paleo deal.

What kind of fat do you fry the chips in?

Great chips with a satisfying crunch require a healthy fat that doesn’t break down at high temperatures. To make Wilde Chicken Chips as healthy as possible, we use coconut oil, which has a naturally high smoke point, so it’s stable throughout the cooking process.

Isn’t coconut oil a saturated fat?

Yes, but only in name. Meaning, it’s nothing like the saturated fat you might get from, say, a nice juicy steak.

Coconut oil is a plant-based saturated fat rich in medium chain triglycerides (MCT) and it’s very different from the saturated fats your doctor warns you about.

In fact, coconut oil may actually help to protect against heart disease and stroke while lowering your LDL, or “bad,” cholesterol. We feel very confident that the powerful antioxidants and MCTs in coconut oil are the perfect, healthy “crisper” for Wilde Chicken Chips.

Are your Chicken Chips organic?

Yes and no. We use all organic spices for the seasoning blends. The chicken we use is not organic, although the chicken is GAP (Global Animal Partnership) Step 2 certified and Non-GMO certified natural chicken.

Do Wilde Chicken Chips expire?

Sadly, yes, so crunch a bag today. Each bag has an 11-month shelf-life. Simply look for the “Best by” date printed on the bottom of the bag. And an open bag will remain fresh for about two days, if you don’t devour them in one sitting!

How is tapioca flour gluten-free?

Tapioca flour is a flour in name only! It’s actually a powder made from the pulp from the cassava root, also known as manioc or yucca. Tapioca flour is a common ingredient in gluten-free cooking – it creates the crunch that makes Wilde Chicken Chips so satisfying!

Are your Chicken Chips free from the major food allergens?

Our Chicken Chips do not contain any of the "top 8" food allergens -- dairy, eggs, gluten, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, or shellfish. It's worth noting that our chips are cooked in coconut oil, which by USDA/FDA standards and definition, coconuts are "tree nuts." However, according to Dr. Scott Sicherer in Allergic Living, coconut is not a nut but rather a fruit.

Are Wilde Chips keto-friendly?

Strict ketogenic diet followers have said that Wilde Chips are not keto-friendly. That's because there are carbs in our chips. The "Lazy" keto dieter, as they're affectionately known in the keto circles, eat Wilde Chips. The concern that strict keto dieters have is that there are too many carbs -- our Chicken Chips have a total of 10g of carbs, which come from the tapioca flour. The Lazy keto dieters say that the carbs are minimal enough to keep one's body in ketosis.

What happens to the used coconut oil?

We care about the environment, so the coconut oil we use gets a second life as renewable energy! We’ve partnered with a production facility that produces renewable energy from food waste, particularly coconut oil.

In fact, our very own coconut oil helps to power the plant that creates the chips. A perfect, satisfying circle, if you will!

How many chicken breasts are in one bag of Wilde Chicken Chips?

Are Wilde Chicken Chips Whole30 compliant?

Our ingredients are Whole30 compliant, however, the rules of the clean-eating plan are for "no fake treats with Whole30-approved ingredients."

Why don't you bake your chips?

Our goal was to make a chip with the signature crunch you know and love, and we couldn’t get the texture we wanted by baking it. That said, our chips are not “deep fried” or “kettle cooked." Think of them as almost pan fried in a very small amount of coconut oil, which results in the thin and crispiness we ultimately set out to achieve. There are also health benefits to using coconut oil instead of baking the chips. Coconut oil contains healthy fats and nutrients that won't disappear since the oil can withstand the high cooking temperatures.

What is cassava root?

The cassava root, often compared to large yams, is sweet, starchy and nut-flavored. It's naturally gluten-free with a low glycemic index. When moisture is removed from the cassava root either by evaporation or squeezing it out after being ground, you're left with tapioca flour. Tapioca flour is one of the three ingredients that make Chicken Chips.

Are Wilde Chicken Chips Weight Watchers friendly snacks?

The SmartPoints value for our Chicken Chips is 7. While that may appear high for a snack, the higher point value comes from the saturated fat content. The saturated fat in our Chicken Chips comes from coconut oil, a plant-based saturated fat rich in medium chain triglycerides (MCT), which is significantly healthier than saturated fats doctors warn their patients about.

Are the chickens you use humanely raised?

Absolutely! We’ve taken a thoughtful approach to every tasty ingredient, and humanely raised chickens are better for the animal, the environment and, frankly, the soul.

Our products are GAP (Global Animal Partnership) Step 2 certified, meaning the chickens we use are raised on farms with improved living conditions and animal welfare practices. Learn more at the Global Animal Partnership website.
