Colin Dieden / Musician
Little Hurt/Colin Dieden - Wilde Ambassador Q&A
My name is Colin Dieden but in the music world you would know me as Little Hurt. I was born in Los Angeles but grew up in Kansas City. I moved back to LA the day I turned 18 so I could start doing this music thing. To be honest, I have a lot less time for hobbies these days than I’d like, but in my off time I really like to cook.
Q: If you had to choose 3 life essentials, what would they be?
A: A good amount of quiet and space for myself, great food, great love.
Q: How/when did you get started playing music? Who are some of your inspirations, both past and present?
A: I’ve really never been interested in doing anything else ever since I was a kid. I think I started writing songs around 11-12 years old and I never looked back. I’m very influenced by crosby stills nash and young, lauryn hill, and then a lot of modern stuff ranging from Trap, to EDM, to country. im all over the place. I am almost moreso influenced by non-music things, for example, jack kerouac is my favorite writer and has been huge for me lyrically.
Q: What is it you love about making music? What keeps you coming back to it everyday? What keeps you hungry? What drives you to keep trying to up your game?
A: I think I have this desire to find the truth someone inside myself. like, as if im digging as deep as I can in hopes that i’ll finally hit the bottom. I think the best music comes from artists who write from the joy of constantly discovering new things about themselves.
Q: How have you been spending your time/adjusting to life without live music or tours? What has been the most challenging moment in your career?
A: I’ve definitely been sitting around a lot more than I generally have the opportunity to. and to be honest, that’s starting to get pretty old. last year I transitioned from being the singer of my old band into going solo and little hurt, and that was one of the scariest decisions I ever had to make. but you gotta take risks, that’s what this whole game is all about..
Q: What is your favorite/most fulfilling moment you had in your career?
A: I’ve had a lot of fulfilling moments. Mostly when a fan will come up to you at a show and tell you that your music saved their life. there is nothing like that feeling.
Q: What experience do you want to give fans when they listen to your music?
A: I’m really going to honesty and authenticity. I want people to know that when they listen to my music they are getting my truth, stories about my life and real things that I went through.
Q: What is your biggest dream that you have yet to accomplish?
A: I really want to go to space and so far that hasn’t happened for me.
Q: How has your diet changed, if at all, as you’ve progressed through your career?
A: Well as my career progresses i’ve obviously gotten older, and as you get older your metabolism slows down. when I was 19 I could eat literally whatever I wanted without consequences and now I just have to be a bit more conscious of what I put into my body.
Q: Does your diet vary much while touring vs being at home?
A: yeah well I wish I knew about Wilde chips when I was touring because on the road you tend to eat like a complete garbage can. would have been good to have a healthier alternative to all the horrible chips we ate.
Q: How does Wilde fit into your training program/nutrition program?
A: they’re a perfect snack for me to grab when i’m out the door on the way to the studio and need something with protein but not packed full of carbs and other bad stuff.
Q: Why Wilde Chips as opposed to other chip brands?
A: simply put. they taste better and I don’t feel guilty. that crunch, is unparalleled. if you know you know.
Q: How did you first hear about Wilde Chips?
A: My friend gave me a bag once at the studio and I was hooked. Love at first bite baby.
Q: What did you think about them before and after you tried them?
A: I’m always looking for new, interesting foods so they were totally up my alley. After trying them my next thought was about buying a ring and proposing to this bag of Wilde chips.
Q: At Wilde, our mantra is "Be Bold. Live Wilde-ly". What does live Wilde-ly mean to you?
A: Make every second count and don’t slow down for anyone.
